Special Education Teacher | Carmel, Indiana
Step into a rewarding educational environment as a Special Education Teacher serving students in a life skills program for the upcoming 26/27 academic year. This full-time, contract position offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact in a supportive school community located near Carmel, IN. With four available openings in various life skills classrooms, you'll work on-site within a dynamic and collaborative team.
Your main focus will be an intermediate life skills class serving nine students, supported by two experienced paraprofessionals in the room. The caseload is multi-categorical, providing an engaging mix of instructional and adaptive challenges. This is a highly interactive role that values your expertise and creativity in delivering tailored learning experiences.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification for the state of Indiana
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and IEP implementation
- Experience working with students in life skills or multi-categorical special education settings preferred
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with paraprofessionals, students, and families
- Dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction based on students’ IEP goals
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure a safe and effective learning space
- Monitor, record, and report student progress, adapting strategies as needed
- Communicate regularly with families and staff for comprehensive student support
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and continuous improvement activities
