A contract Special Education Teacher opportunity is available nearby Charleston, SC, supporting a self-contained, mild-to-moderate classroom environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading instruction for nine students with mild-to-moderate needs in a self-contained classroom
- Collaborating daily with four dedicated classroom aides and full-time ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) support to optimize learning strategies
- Crafting and delivering individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's unique IEP goals and abilities
- Fostering a positive, nurturing atmosphere where students can achieve academic and social-emotional milestones
- Communicating routinely with families, specialists, and school staff to ensure all student needs are met
- Implementing behavior management and proactive intervention plans as necessary
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Previous experience working with elementary or middle school populations, ideally in a self-contained setting
- Strong skills in differentiation, classroom management, and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
- An empathetic, patient, and resourceful approach to supporting diverse learners
- Familiarity with IEP development and ongoing progress monitoring documentation
