Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an Instructional Teacher, supporting a small self-contained classroom for Kindergarten and 1st-grade students in a setting that prioritizes individualized attention and progress. Your day begins at 8:15 AM and concludes at 3:45 PM, immersing you in a nurturing environment where approximately six students—primarily low-incident cases—make use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Your expertise will guide their daily learning and growth starting August 19.
Qualifications & Skills Sought:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement
- Direct experience as a Special Education Teacher, especially with early elementary students
- Familiarity with and enthusiasm for implementing assistive technology, including AAC devices
- Commitment to differentiating instruction and adapting curriculum for diverse learning profiles
- Strong collaborative skills, working closely with support staff, related service providers, and families
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to create an encouraging classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction for a self-contained classroom serving Kindergarten and 1st-grade students
- Design and deliver lessons tailored to individual student needs, incorporating technology and AAC devices
- Regularly monitor student progress and adjust strategies for maximizing communication and learning outcomes
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and specialists to support each child’s educational goals
- Communicate effectively with caregivers to foster consistent support between school and home
