Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher near Chicago, IL! Please note, teaching assistants or paraprofessionals may not be present in the classroom.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement or equivalent)
- Strong background in working with middle school students, particularly those with varied learning abilities
- Proven experience with resource or co-taught instructional models
- Ability to create and deliver differentiated lesson plans, adapting materials for individual student needs
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and parents
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom climate
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and individualized support to students in a resource or co-taught environment
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum and teaching techniques for students with special needs
- Collect data and report on student progress, utilizing assessments to inform instruction
- Partner with colleagues to align instructional goals and strategies
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student achievements and areas of growth
