Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher within a dedicated functional (RISE) program featuring an alternative curriculum. This full-time position offers the chance to make tangible differences in the lives of 6th to 8th graders in a self-contained classroom environment. With a manageable caseload of 8 students, your expertise will be central to fostering growth and success over the course of the assignment, extending through June 9, 2027.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Illinois PEL or equivalent)
- Experience with middle school special education or alternative curriculum programs preferred
- Strong understanding of functional curriculum, IEP development, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork abilities
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to inclusive education
What You'll Do:
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans utilizing alternative and functional curricula
- Provide daily instruction, assessment, and adaptive support to students with diverse learning needs
- Develop and review IEPs, ensure accommodations, and collaborate with related service providers
- Foster a supportive classroom environment focused on students’ academic, social, and functional goals
- Maintain open communication with families, faculty, and support staff to ensure holistic student development
