Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for Early Education, Elementary, and Middle School grades (K-8). This full-time, contract opportunity runs from ASAP through May 28, 2027, offering a chance to make a difference in a diverse and vibrant school community near Chicago, IL. You’ll provide a mix of resource and instructional (self-contained) support, working 32.5 hours each week in collaboration with dedicated educators and support staff.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current Illinois Special Education Teacher Certification
- Active Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience teaching or supporting students in K-8th grade (resource and/or self-contained preferred)
- Strong skills in developing and implementing IEPs
- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies
- Effective communication and collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction to students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in resource and self-contained classroom settings
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to align with IEP goals and state standards
- Track student progress, update documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive practices
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
