Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students as a Bilingual Special Education Teacher (English & Spanish) in a dynamic junior high environment. Within a small classroom setting (20 or fewer students), you’ll make a meaningful difference, fostering growth for learners in grades 6 through 8.
This contract position runs from August 17, 2026, through June 2, 2027, and is designed for educators who bring adaptive expertise, compassion, and a commitment to long-term student success. You’ll work onsite for 33.75 hours per week, delivering instruction and support that prioritizes student needs.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education Licensure is required
- Above elementary level teaching experience, ideally in junior high or high school
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
- Previous experience with small group instruction and managing diverse learning profiles
- Proven track record of career consistency—your long-term commitment is highly valued
- Focused on student-centered teaching, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Skilled at building rapport with students and collaborating with colleagues
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for students
- Adapt curriculum materials to meet the unique needs of each learner
- Engage in regular communication with families, providing updates on student progress
- Utilize bilingual skills daily to bridge communication for students and families
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all state and federal regulations
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to help each student thrive
