Special Education Teacher in Cicero, IL

A rewarding contract opportunity awaits a dedicated Special Education Teacher skilled in providing targeted interventions in reading and foundational math for students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD). You’ll work with an average caseload of approximately 20 students, carefully guiding their academic progress in a supportive school environment near Cicero, IL.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL)
- LBS1 Endorsement required
- Prior experience with individualized instruction for students with SLD and DD preferred
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, IEP accommodations, and collaborative team teaching models
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction in reading (focusing on fluency and comprehension) and foundational mathematics skills
- Design and implement effective push-in and pull-out support to best meet individual student needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to identify and achieve educational goals for each student
- Regularly assess and document student progress, adapting instructional strategies as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of high-quality, student-centered educational plans
