Special Education Teacher | Clifton Park, New York

Make a genuine difference in the lives of young children as a Special Education Teacher working with preschool-age students. This full-time, direct hire position serves integrated (18 students) and self-contained (12 students) classrooms for ages 3-5. You'll support both the school year and a six-week summer program, with hours of 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Key Qualifications:
- NYS Certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities Birth to Grade 2 (REQUIRED)
- Experience or strong desire to work with preschool-aged students in both integrated and self-contained settings
- Comprehensive knowledge of New York State Next Generation Learning Standards
- Collaborative spirit for teaming with speech, occupational, and physical therapy providers
- Strong organizational abilities to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication skills for supervising classroom support staff and partnering with families
What You'll Do:
- Design, write and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet each student’s developmental needs and learning goals
- Collaborate regularly with related service providers to ensure cohesive educational support
- Deliver engaging lessons aligned with NYS Next Generation Learning Standards
- Supervise and mentor classroom support staff to foster a positive, inclusive environment
- Actively participate in professional development and ongoing training to stay current in best practices
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation and reporting requirements
