Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid New York State Special Education Teaching license, with all relevant endorsements/certifications
- Proven experience working with students in grades 11-12 with emotional or behavioral disabilities
- Ability to design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong classroom management skills and a compassionate, proactive teaching approach
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration abilities
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment
Position Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction for students with emotional disabilities in accordance with their IEPs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support staff, and families to promote student progress
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, attending meetings as required
- Provide ongoing support and interventions that encourage positive behavior and emotional development
- Sustain a structured, supportive classroom setting that promotes student engagement and success
