Step into a rewarding contract position supporting high school students in a special education setting within the Bath/Hornell, NY area. With coverage dates spanning early September to early December, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing stability and quality instruction during an essential period of the academic year.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active New York State Teaching License with high school endorsement
- Appropriate certification for Emotional Disturbance (ED) classroom settings
- Experience teaching at the high school level, particularly in special education environments
- Ability to create structured, positive learning experiences tailored to diverse student needs
- Strong classroom management skills and a collaborative mindset
- Open to working in a substitute or teacher’s assistant capacity, as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and classroom leadership for 11th and 12th grade high school students in a special education environment
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to suit individual education plans (IEPs) and promote inclusive practices
- Foster a supportive classroom culture focused on learning and personal growth
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and communicate effectively with staff and administrators
- Collaborate with teacher assistants and related service providers to ensure holistic support for each student
