Experience an exciting opportunity to make a difference as a Special Education Teacher, supporting elementary students in a high-functioning life skills classroom. Located near Cranston, RI and available as a full-time, onsite contract role, this position covers a maternity leave from mid-October to mid-January. You’ll be part of a close-knit instructional team at a supportive school, leading a class of approximately eight students alongside three teaching assistants.
Ideal candidates will have experience working with special education populations and a passion for helping students meet their fullest potential in a structured learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Hold an active Special Education Educator Certificate
- Prior experience teaching in a special education setting, preferably with life skills or similar programs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and school staff
- Strong classroom management, adaptability, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and individualized support to students with high-functioning special needs
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students’ IEP goals
- Collaborate with a team of three teaching assistants
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Uphold school policies and ensure a safe, positive environment
