Make a meaningful impact during the 2026–2027 school year in a specialized special education classroom serving students with moderate to severe/extensive support needs. This full-time contract opportunity offers placement in either an elementary classroom with strong paraprofessional support or a high school classroom serving medically fragile students.
Position Details
- Location: Santa Monica, CA
- School Year: August 17, 2026 – June 9, 2027
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Caseload Options
- Elementary Classroom: Approximately 10 students with multiple instructional assistants/paraprofessionals providing classroom support.
- High School Classroom: Serving medically fragile students in a specialized educational setting.
Qualifications
- Active California Education Specialist Credential in Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs (ESN) required.
- Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities or medically fragile populations preferred.
- Knowledge of IEP development, behavior support strategies, and differentiated instruction.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
- Develop lesson plans, accommodations, and modifications to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate special education documentation.
- Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families.
- Foster a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
