Special Education Teacher in Dallas, TX
Make a lasting impact in the lives of young learners by supporting elementary students with special needs in a dynamic school environment near Dallas, TX. This full-time contract opportunity is perfect for a dedicated special education teacher ready to contribute expertise to one of three specialized classroom settings: life skills, autism support, or behavior. The assignment runs immediately through late May 2027, with 37.5 hours per week at one elementary campus.
As part of this role, you’ll be placed at either Rutherford Elementary, Mackey Elementary, or JR Thompson Elementary, each with its own specific caseload. Individual placements include self-contained Total Language Classrooms focusing on small group rotations or a life skills classroom. We want to match you with your preferred age group and setting, ensuring an optimal fit for both you and the students.
Qualifications:
- Accredited bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) teaching certificate
- Prior experience in life skills, autism, or behavioral support classrooms preferred
- Familiarity with small group instructional strategies and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Recent fingerprint clearance via TEA or willingness to complete as part of onboarding
- Commitment to engaging, evidence-based instruction and nurturing student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support in a self-contained or specialized classroom
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate closely with school staff, specialists, and families
- Maintain accurate records and participate in ongoing professional development
