Special Education Teacher | Dalton, Georgia
An exciting contract opportunity awaits those passionate about making a meaningful impact in early childhood education. A full-time position is available supporting a Special Education Pre-K program, working with children ages 3-5 who have a range of developmental needs. This engaging role runs from August 4th, 2026, through May 21st, 2027, offering the chance to help young learners build foundational skills in a supportive environment.
As part of a dedicated school team, you will play an essential part in fostering growth, creating inclusive learning experiences, and supporting students who may be non-verbal or minimally verbal—with varying levels of independence. The role involves assisting with personal care (toileting and feeding) as well as implementing behavioral and academic supports.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate with Special and General Education endorsements for Pre-K
- Experience in special education or with early childhood-aged students
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting non-verbal communication and behavioral needs
- Comfort with hands-on care for young children, including toileting/diapering and feeding
Primary Duties:
- Deliver individualized instruction within the Special Education Pre-K curriculum
- Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and related service providers
- Provide positive behavioral supports and communicate proactively with families
- Support students with daily living skills, including assisting with hygiene and mealtimes
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
