Special Education Teacher in Dalton, GA

Key qualifications:
- Possess an active GaPSC Special Education certification with content coverage through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement is required
- The district will consider candidates currently finalizing their credentials
- Previous experience in a functional, self-contained classroom is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to implement and adapt instruction to meet students’ diverse needs
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver effective, individualized instruction within a lower-functioning, self-contained classroom
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Collaborate daily with two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician to maximize student support
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Track student progress, maintain required documentation, and communicate regularly with families and staff
- Participate in pre- and post-planning days as scheduled
