Special Education Teacher in Dalton, GA
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in an inclusive elementary setting. This full-time contract position spans from July 29th through May 21st, 2027, including pre-planning days, and offers the chance to make a significant impact with a small caseload of approximately 8–10 students. You'll primarily work with 1st and 2nd graders, with some students possibly in Kindergarten, in an inclusive classroom environment where collaboration and positive relationships are key.
Your students will present with a range of learning differences and needs, including Autism, significant developmental delays, speech and language challenges, self-regulation concerns, and learning disabilities. While direct toileting or diapering care is not required, one student does benefit from supervision during changes as part of their toileting goal. This role provides the unique chance to help shape early learning experiences within a supportive educational community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Georgia PSC Teaching License with P-12 Special Education endorsement
- Dyslexia endorsement required
- Experience or passion for supporting students with diverse developmental, behavioral, and learning needs
- Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of inclusion practices in elementary settings
- Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and interventions to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Implement evidence-based strategies to address self-regulation, language, and developmental needs
- Maintain organized documentation and communication about student progress
