Special Education Teacher in Dalton, GA
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting young learners with diverse needs, working in an inclusive elementary classroom setting. This contract role spans the academic year, July 29th to May 21st, 2027, and offers full-time hours (37.5 per week), making it ideal for those seeking stability and meaningful impact in their careers.
In this position, you’ll work closely with a small caseload of approximately 8-10 students, primarily in 1st and 2nd grades, with some inclusion of Kindergarteners. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting students with autism, developmental delays, speech and language challenges, self-regulation needs, and various learning disabilities. While toileting is not generally required, there is one student with a toileting supervision goal.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Holds an active teaching license with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC), including a P-12 Special Education endorsement and the Dyslexia endorsement.
- Experience or passion for working with students with diverse and significant needs.
- Skilled in managing behaviors and adapting instruction in an inclusive classroom.
- Knowledgeable about elementary curriculum and individualized support planning.
- Collaborative, patient, and dedicated to fostering student growth and independence.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction within an inclusion setting.
- Develop and implement IEPs, track progress, and adjust interventions as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, specialists, and families.
- Support students in achieving social, emotional, and academic milestones.
- Provide positive behavior interventions and strategies tailored to each learner.
