Special Education Teacher | Dalton, Georgia

Take on a rewarding contract opportunity working with young learners in a supportive elementary school environment. This position focuses on providing specialized instruction and fostering growth for students in an inclusion classroom, primarily serving 1st and 2nd grade with some students possibly in Kindergarten. The caseload consists of approximately 8-10 elementary students presenting with unique needs, such as autism, significant developmental and speech/language delays, learning disabilities, and self-regulation challenges. While toileting or diapering is not required, one student has a toileting goal and will need some supervision.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid GaPSC Teaching License with P-12 Special Education endorsement
- Dyslexia endorsement required
- Experience working with students with autism, developmental and speech/language delays, and learning disabilities
- Familiarity with inclusion classroom environments is highly valued
- Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated instruction within an inclusion setting
- Support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral goals
- Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Supervise and provide guidance with toileting routines for one student

- Contract assignment from July 29th, 2024 through May 21st, 2027 (includes pre-planning days)
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Caseload of 8-10 elementary students, PreK-2nd grade
