Special Education Teacher | Dearborn, Michigan

Lead impactful learning in a supportive school environment serving K–2 students with diverse abilities. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering specialized instruction as a Certified Elementary Cognitively Impaired (CI) Teacher in a full-time, onsite role running from late August 2026 through late June 2027.
Utilize your expertise to foster academic and emotional growth in an engaging, inclusive setting. Collaborate with colleagues and families to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavioral strategies that ensure every student can thrive.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Valid Special Education License with CI or ASD endorsement
- Certification in CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or willingness to obtain and renew annually
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students (K–2) in a special education setting
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with staff and families
- Passion for adapting lessons to meet a range of cognitive and behavioral needs
- Ability to maintain a positive classroom climate, employing supportive behavioral interventions
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to students’ individual needs and IEP goals
- Adapt resources and lessons to maximize participation and understanding
- Employ CPI strategies to ensure student and classroom safety
- Monitor, track, and report on student progress regularly
- Collaborate with related service providers, general education teachers, and parents
- Participate in IEP meetings and professional development sessions
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal special education requirements
