Make a meaningful impact supporting a homebound 1st grade student in the Deer River area as an educator with dual expertise in Special Education and General Education—or bring your skills in either discipline. This flexible, part-time contract role offers about 10 hours per week and is ideal for a qualified teacher eager to personalize instruction for an elementary child learning from home due to health concerns.
Your focus will be on delivering both Special Education and General Education curriculum to a student with an OHD disability and cognitive impairment, whose family has chosen homebound instruction. The position is open to candidates certified in either field, but ideally someone credentialed in both.
What You'll Need:
- Current Minnesota teaching license required
- Certification in Special Education (any area)
- General Education Elementary certification
- Experience adapting instruction for diverse learners
- Comfort working independently in a home-based setting
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families and school staff
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging, differentiated lessons and activities in both Special Education and General Education according to the IEP and grade-level standards
- Adapt instruction for a student with cognitive impairment, focusing on individualized pacing and accessible strategies
- Coordinate with parents and school professionals to monitor progress and update learning plans as needed
- Document educational activities, student progress, and reports for the school
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
