Special Education Teacher - Denver, Colorado
Make a lasting difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher working on-site in the greater Denver area. These contract roles focus on creating supportive, effective learning environments within elementary and high school settings, with one assignment per school. Both opportunities are in highly supportive districts that value personality fit and collaborative partnerships among staff and special service providers.
What you'll need to bring:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement
- Experience with mild/moderate or affective needs populations (as relevant to the specific assignment)
- For Affective Needs placement:
- Experience supporting students with emotional and behavioral disabilities
- Strong skills in CPI or crisis de-escalation strategies
- Comfort leading a paraprofessional team
- Familiarity with ABA and FBA/BIP development
- Autism experience required; special education math experience preferred
- Positive, collaborative approach with students, families, and multidisciplinary staff
- Ability to meet time-sensitive credentialing requirements and provide necessary documentation prior to start
- Commitment to full-time hours (37.5 per week), following the school year calendar: July 27, 2026 – May 21, 2027
