Special Education Teacher | Denver, Colorado

Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students’ learning and personal growth in a dynamic school environment. This contract opportunity offers two distinct full-time roles—one at the elementary level, focusing on mild/moderate needs, and another at the high school level, addressing more complex emotional and behavioral challenges. You’ll work closely with dedicated teams and experience strong district-wide support for specialized services.
Key Qualifications:
- Active CO Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement
- Experience working with students with special needs in a school setting required
- For the high school setting: background in autism support, familiarity with CPI, de-escalation strategies, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) strongly preferred
- Experience teaching special education math is a plus
- Ability to lead paraprofessional staff as part of a small team
- Positive communication style and collaborative approach; adaptable for strong personality fit with multidisciplinary teams
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction in accordance with IEPs and district objectives
- Utilize evidence-based interventions, especially for students with emotional or behavioral needs
- Lead and mentor paraprofessionals (high school position)
- Maintain professional documentation, progress monitoring, and timely communication with educational partners and families
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, collaborating with administrators, therapists, and other specialists
- Meet district onboarding and credentialing requirements prior to assignment start
