Special Education Teacher - Denver, Colorado
Make a real difference in the lives of students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher supporting learners in Colorado! Two exciting full-time contract opportunities are now available for passionate, skilled educators ready to join highly supportive school environments. Both assignments involve working on-site, where you’ll partner with other educators, specialists, and paraprofessionals to deliver comprehensive support.
Opportunities available:
- Learning Specialist (Elementary – mild/moderate needs) in Westminster, CO
- Affective Needs Specialist (High School – more severe emotional & behavioral disabilities) in Thornton, CO
What We’re Looking For:
- Current CO DOE Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5–21) endorsement (required)
- Experience with special education instructional strategies
- For Affective Needs role: Proven background in autism support, CPI/de-escalation skills, FBA/BIP implementation, and behavioral management (ABA principles a strong plus)
- Special education math instructional experience (preferred)
- Strong team leadership abilities for roles involving paraprofessional support
- Ability to quickly build rapport and fit well within a collaborative, multidisciplinary school setting
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with a range of needs
- Create and implement IEPs and inclusive lesson plans tailored to each student’s requirements
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and families
- Use behavioral intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed
- Lead and mentor paraprofessionals (Affective Needs role)
- Maintain thorough documentation per district requirements
