Middle School Special Education Teacher | Detroit, Michigan
Step into a rewarding role supporting middle school learners as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Resource ELA and Math. This contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through June 11, 2027, offering the opportunity to work with a passionate team in a supportive educational environment near Detroit, MI.
Your day will span from 8:05 AM to 3:05 PM, with a 15-minute duty time before or after school, for a total of 36.25 hours per week. As the Resource/Inclusion Specialist, you’ll provide targeted instruction and interventions in ELA and Math, carefully monitor student progress, and manage a diverse caseload. You’ll be responsible for developing and updating IEPs, conducting evaluations, coordinating accommodations, and implementing behavior plans—all while keeping compliance with IDEA, MARSE, and IEP protocols at the forefront of your practice.
Qualifications:
- Michigan Special Education Teacher endorsement required
- ELA and Math credentials for grades 6–8
- Demonstrated experience with resource/inclusion models for ELA and Math
- Strong understanding of IDEA, MARSE, and IEP compliance
- Ability to effectively monitor interventions and progress
- Track record of collaborating with educators, families, and support personnel
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized ELA and Math instruction and interventions in resource or inclusion settings
- Progress monitor academic and behavioral goals and update student IEPs as needed
- Facilitate timely evaluations, data collection, and compliance documentation
- Maintain accommodations and behavior intervention plans across school environments
- Build positive rapport with students, staff, and families
