Special Education Teacher - Eagle Point, Oregon
Serve as an integral resource supporting K-12 students across Southern Oregon who are on the autism spectrum. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to travel within a 35-mile radius of Medford, encompassing areas from Ashland up to Eagle Point and Grants Pass. As an Autism Specialist, you’ll work directly onsite with students and staff, collaborating with educators and families to provide meaningful expertise, interventions, and guidance.
Qualifications and Desired Background:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or School Psychology, with current TSPC licensure (SLPs with Board Certification also considered).
- OR Licensure and Certification required.
- Skilled Autism Consultant/Specialist, BCBA with focused autism training, or experienced special education professional.
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working with students on the autism spectrum across varying ages/grade levels.
- Demonstrable success serving students with a range of needs, from high-functioning individuals in general education to those with significant challenges in self-contained settings.
- Proven experience completing Autism evaluations and assessments to inform individualized plans.
- Familiarity with public education systems and special education processes is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students identified on the autism spectrum.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Partner with educators, parents, and service providers to design and adapt curriculum, strategies, and supports specific to student needs.
- Deliver professional development and coaching to district staff regarding evidence-based autism interventions and strategies.
