Special Education Teacher | Easton, Maryland
Make an impact in the lives of students by taking on a full-time Special Education Teacher assignment for the 2026–2027 school year. This contract opportunity focuses on supporting high school students, with some involvement at the elementary level. The role begins at the start of the school year and continues through its anticipated end, providing continuity for those you serve.
Your primary responsibility will be to teach, support, and advocate for a diverse caseload of approximately 10-15 students at any given time. The students you’ll support have a range of disabilities, including Other Health Impairment (OHI), learning disabilities, autism, and language impairments. Most services are delivered within the general education classroom, promoting inclusion and meaningful participation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Special Education Teacher (required)
- Experience teaching either elementary or high school-aged students
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive education practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, administrators, and families
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of IEP processes and commitment to documentation and compliance
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Deliver special education services within general education settings
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and school staff
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all compliance deadlines are met
