Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher serving students in a supportive, therapeutic setting near Elgin, IL. This position offers a chance to work directly with a small, manageable caseload of 6-8 students across K-12, delivering instruction through both 1:1 sessions and small groups of up to four. Start as soon as possible and make a positive impact through June 3rd, with potential to extend into summer school until August 10th. You'll be working 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday, in a role well-suited to passionate educators ready to foster growth and success in each learner.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid State teaching license and active LBS1 SPED certification, required
- Previous experience with K-12 special education preferred
- Familiarity with therapeutic educational models and differentiated instruction
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to tailored, individualized learning (no virtual instruction/VOCO permitted)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs within a therapeutic framework
- Provide direct instruction through 1:1 and small group teaching, supporting academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- Assess each student’s progress and adapt instruction and interventions accordingly
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to promote student success
- Utilize current IEPs to guide instruction, documenting progress and maintaining compliance with state regulations
