This contract position features a self-contained classroom of 7-8 fourth and fifth grade students, offering a unique setting for individualized education. Key Qualifications:
- LBSI certification and experience as a Special Education Teacher required
- Background with self-contained elementary settings preferred
- Familiarity with Unique or STAR curriculum is a strong plus
- Comfortable differentiating instruction and implementing IEP goals
- Strong communication and teamwork ability
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning climate
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans that meet students’ individual needs
- Implement and progress-monitor IEPs
- Foster social/emotional, behavioral, and academic development
- Collaborate closely with fellow special education staff, related service providers, and families
- Maintain a welcoming, structured classroom environment
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings
Position Details:
- 35-hour weekly schedule, Monday through Friday (8:05-3:35 M/T/TH/F, 8:05-3:50 W), plus a daily 30-minute lunch break
- Contract opens August 17, 2026, with potential orientation August 5-11 for early onboarding
- Role concludes May 28, 2027 (pending emergency days)
- Work within a dedicated elementary building alongside fellow self-contained programs
