Special Education Teacher in Elizabeth, NJ
Exciting opportunities are available for passionate educators seeking a meaningful role supporting young learners in a self-contained autism classroom. Open positions include ABA Kindergarten Special Education Teacher and ABA 1st–2nd Grade Special Education Teacher, with assignments beginning September 1, 2026, and continuing through June 25, 2027. These full-time contract roles are located near Elizabeth, NJ.
In this setting, educators will engage with primarily non-verbal students, utilizing Discrete Trial Training (DTT) within a structured environment. While prior experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is strongly valued, dedicated teachers with strong skills in special education best practices are encouraged to apply, even if new to ABA methods.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey teaching certification as either:
- Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and Elementary Education (K–6), or
- Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH)
- Experience or interest in ABA approaches and working in self-contained autism classrooms
- Ability to implement DTT methods to promote student learning and communication
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Compassion, adaptability, and a positive attitude in supporting non-verbal learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction utilizing ABA and DTT strategies
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collect and analyze data on student progress and adapt methods as needed
- Foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and families
