Empower students with unique abilities as a Special Education Teacher focused on supporting those with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD). This is a contracted, on-site role for the upcoming academic year, working at the elementary school level. The ideal candidate will play a key part in providing tailored instruction, fostering independence, and helping students achieve their academic and social goals.
Key Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Teaching Certification—Tier 3 or 4 required (please attach with your resume for consideration)
- Demonstrated experience working as a Special Education Teacher, preferably with DCD populations in school settings
- Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, students, and families
- Ability to foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 9 students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to facilitate the best educational outcomes
- Communicate effectively with families regarding progress, challenges, and resources
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district, state, and federal special education regulations
Assignment Details:
- Contract period: Late August 2026 to early June 2027
- Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
