Special Education Teacher | Elmira, New York

Qualifications & Experience:
- Current, active New York State Special Education Teaching license
- All required endorsements and certifications for SPED in NY
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students in grades 11-12, preferably Emotional Disturbance (ED) classrooms
- Strong classroom management skills and a passion for differentiated instruction
- Outstanding communication, adaptability, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to maintaining an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized and group instruction for 11th and 12th grade students in alignment with IEPs
- Develop lesson plans adapted to diverse learning abilities and behavioral needs
- Create an engaging classroom environment centered on student success, safety, and respect
- Collaborate with support staff, related service providers, and families to monitor progress and adjust supports as needed
- Maintain accurate records and document student milestones in compliance with all state and school guidelines
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and team planning sessions as relevant throughout your assignment
