What we’re looking for:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification required
- Additional certification in science (biology, chemistry, physics, or general science) preferred
- Previous experience working in high school settings or with adolescent students with special needs
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement IEPs effectively
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lessons tailored to students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Create a supportive learning atmosphere that nurtures students’ academic and social development
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraeducators, and support staff to ensure cohesive instruction
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate regularly with families and educational teams
- Adapt science curriculum to meet varying abilities and promote engagement among all students
