Special Education Teacher in Fredericksburg, VA

What We're Looking For:
- Valid Virginia Special Education Teaching License, or eligibility for licensure
- Proven experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with disabilities
- Thorough understanding of special education laws, compliance, and documentation
- Exceptional classroom management and behavioral support abilities
- Strong collaborative skills for working with school-based multidisciplinary teams and families
Preferred Experience:
- Background working with elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Competency in self-contained classroom settings
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices, including ABA, structured teaching, social stories, visual schedules, and augmentative/functional communication systems
- Experience supporting students with significant behavioral and cognitive needs
- Crisis prevention or de-escalation training
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with state standards and each student’s IEP
- Employ evidence-based strategies for students with Autism, supporting communication, self-regulation, and social interaction
- Implement positive behavior support (PBIS), behavioral intervention plans, and classroom routines that foster growth and learning
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and other providers
- Collect, analyze, and report on student data to inform instruction and meet compliance requirements
- Promote a safe, predictable, and engaging classroom environment focused on student success
