Qualifications:
- Active (or eligible for) Virginia Special Education Teaching License
- Background in developing and implementing IEPs
- Solid understanding of compliance/documentation in special education
- Excellent classroom management and positive behavior support skills
- Collaborative mindset to work alongside multidisciplinary teams and families
- Previous experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and self-contained classrooms preferred
- Knowledge of ABA, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems a plus
- Training in crisis prevention/de-escalation valued
Responsibilities:
- Develop/implement IEPs for students with Autism
- Provide direct instruction tailored to student needs
- Apply evidence-based strategies and positive behavior supports
- Supervise paraprofessionals and foster family engagement
- Collect/analyze progress data, maintain compliance
- Support communication, self-regulation, and life skills
