In this position, you'll take the lead in shaping educational and developmental outcomes for students with varying communication, cognitive, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Deliver effective direct instruction aligned with state standards and individual goals
- Employ evidence-based strategies designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Implement and monitor Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Maintain rigorous data collection and accurate compliance documentation
- Foster student communication, social interaction, self-regulation, and independence
- Supervise and support classroom paraprofessionals, providing leadership and guidance
- Partner with related service providers and families to create a holistic support team
- Create and sustain a secure, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Current Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure
- Expertise in IEP development, implementation, and documentation
- Proficient in classroom management and behavioral supports
- Strong team collaboration and family communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Previous teaching experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, and visual supports
- Training in crisis prevention or de-escalation techniques
