Special Education Teacher - Fryeburg, Maine
In this rewarding contract role, you’ll have the opportunity to help elementary students reach their fullest potential in a supportive environment. Classrooms average 19 students and benefit from the assistance of two dedicated Educational Technicians. Should you prefer a part-time schedule, a third Ed Tech will also be brought in to ensure comprehensive support, creating an even more collegial setting.
Your focus will be on students with Specific Learning Disabilities and Other Health Impairments, allowing you to engage in meaningful, skill-building instruction without the complexities associated with emotional disorder management. The flexibility of a full-time schedule at 33.75 hours per week or a part-time schedule around 20 hours per week allows you to tailor your work to your lifestyle, while still making a significant difference.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (state or reciprocal)
- Proven experience working with K-4th grade learners
- Expertise in implementing IEPs for students with Specific Learning Disabilities and Other Health Impairments
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Ed Techs and other support staff
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and carry out individualized lesson plans aligned with IEP goals
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with team members to adapt strategies as needed
