Special Education Teacher | Garland, Texas

Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in a dynamic school environment near Garland, TX. This contract role begins as soon as possible and will extend through May 28, 2027, offering the opportunity to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) at a single elementary campus. Positions are available at Rutherford Elementary (TLC/Total Language self-contained classroom), Mackey Elementary (TLC/Total Language self-contained classroom), and JR Thompson Elementary (Life Skills classroom). You will collaborate with supportive educational teams and make a meaningful difference every day for students with diverse learning needs.
What you’ll bring:
- Accredited bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) certificate
- Experience or passion for working with elementary-age students in specialized settings such as life skills, autism, or behavior classrooms
- Strong communication skills, flexibility, and a collaborative approach
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, nurturing classroom environments
- Ability to select a preferred caseload and specify interest in particular school sites/roles
- Must complete fingerprinting through TEA if not recently done for another Texas public school district
What you’ll do:
- Deliver specialized, individualized instruction within self-contained or small group classroom settings
- Support students in developing language, social, behavioral, and life skills
- Implement IEP goals, modify curriculum, and monitor progress
- Communicate regularly with families, school teams, and support staff
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with district and state requirements
