Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Educational Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026–2027 school year in Gig Harbor, WA. This position supports Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in educational settings by providing sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation services. The interpreter will facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and community members while supporting student access to educational programs and services.

Full School Year (2026–2027)
Elementary Caseload
Student In-Person Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities
Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation in classroom and educational settings.
Facilitate communication between Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students, teachers, staff, families, and community members.
Support compliance with IDEA, ADA, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
Assist with instructional activities under teacher supervision as appropriate.
Promote student access to curriculum, classroom instruction, and school activities.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in all interactions.
Collaborate with educational teams to support student success.
Qualifications
Completion of an Interpreter Training Program required.
RID Certification and/or EIPA Assessment Score of 4.0 or higher required.
EIPA score of 4.0 or above required in accordance with Washington State law.
Successful fingerprint clearance and Washington State Patrol (WSP), FBI, and sexual misconduct background clearances required.
Valid Washington State Driver's License or evidence of reliable mobility required.
Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred.

Competitive Hourly Pay: $25–$30 per hour subject to change
