Special Education Teacher | Gonzales, Louisiana

Dedicated Special Education Teachers are needed on a contract basis to provide essential support across multiple school settings. These roles will serve students ranging from ages 3 to grade 6, offering opportunities to make a meaningful difference in both inclusion and self-contained environments.
Assignments include:
- Inclusion Teacher for Grade 3
- Self-contained classroom for Ages 3-5
- Self-contained classroom for Grades 4-6
- Potential Grade 2 Resource position
This position requires a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and adaptive educational experience for students with a variety of learning needs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Louisiana Special Education teaching license
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in both inclusion and self-contained classrooms
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility and a compassionate approach to meeting individual student needs
Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Work collaboratively with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods according to student abilities and needs
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families on student progress
- Maintain documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance with district and state guidelines
Role Details:
- Contract position, starting as soon as possible through June 2027
- 35 hours per week
- Assignment across multiple school settings in the area
- Support and supervision provided by the district
- Panel-style, virtual interviews with prompt decision timelines
