Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Louisiana Special Education (SPED) teaching certification, or a valid Louisiana teaching certificate with commitment to obtaining SPED certification
- Previous experience in Special Education highly valued, especially within settings supporting students with autism
- Strong understanding of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and behavioral strategies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow educators, support staff, and families
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable with excellent communication skills
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver instruction aligned to students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in class-based settings for grades K/1 and middle school
- Modify curriculum and utilize evidence-based practices for students with varied abilities, focusing on social, academic, and behavioral growth
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals to ensure comprehensive support
- Regularly communicate with families regarding student progress and strategies for continued growth
- Maintain accurate documentation and effectively manage case responsibilities
