Special Education Teacher in Hockessin, DE

A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to serve elementary-aged students in a supportive educational environment. This position focuses on a caseload with one opening specifically for students with Autism and runs from early February to mid-June. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Delaware Special Education Teaching license (PDF license and updated resume required for presentation)
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably with Autism
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with parents, staff, and administrators
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging classroom culture
- Flexibility to work Monday through Friday, 8:25 AM–3:55 PM with a half-hour paid lunch break
- Willingness to undergo $85 CBC fingerprinting process (must confirm agreement prior to submission)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students with Autism
- Develop and maintain IEPs, tracking progress and updating goals as needed
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, aides, and support staff
- Establish rapport and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
