Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Valid and active New York State Special Education Teaching license with all relevant endorsements or certifications
- Experience teaching in an ED (Emotional Disturbance) classroom at the secondary level, ideally grades 11-12
- Background working within structured classroom environments and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, adapted instruction to students with emotional and behavioral support needs
- Develop and implement IEPs to address individual student goals
- Maintain classroom management and ensure a safe, respectful space for learning
- Liaise with paraprofessionals, support staff, and related service providers
- Document student progress and participate in team meetings as needed
- Communicate consistently with families, collaborating to support student growth
