Special Education Teacher in Horseheads, NY

A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide coverage for an 11th/12th grade ED classroom in the Bath/Hornell, NY area. This onsite assignment is set to begin September 8, 2026, and will continue for up to 12 weeks. The position involves either serving as a Teacher’s Assistant or long-term substitute, depending on client needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current New York State teaching license with high school endorsement
- Certifications required for working in an ED (Emotional Disabilities) classroom setting
- Proven experience with high school special education students, preferably in an ED or behavioral setting
- Ability to quickly adapt to new classroom environments and curriculum
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Background working collaboratively with school teams, aides, and support staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and individualized support to 11th and 12th grade students
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment in the classroom
- Implement and support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor and document student progress, behaviors, and interventions
- Collaborate effectively with other educators, school counselors, and support personnel
- Demonstrate flexibility by taking on responsibilities as either a Teacher’s Assistant or substitute as required
