This contract role is ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher ready to make an impact in an 11th/12th grade setting. You’ll have the opportunity to provide both academic instruction and essential support in a classroom focused on Emotional Disturbance (ED), backing student success throughout the fall semester.
As a key member of the support team, your experience with high school special education will help you guide students through key transitions. Collaborate closely onsite with other educators in a dynamic, supportive environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Teaching License with a high school endorsement
- Required certifications for teaching in an Emotional Disturbance (ED) classroom
- Experience supporting high school students, ideally in grades 11 and 12
- Adaptability to work either as a lead teacher or in a teacher’s assistant role for classroom continuity
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Role Expectations:
- Provide direct instruction and behavioral support to high school juniors and seniors in the ED classroom setting
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and modify curriculum as needed for student success
- Maintain a positive, encouraging atmosphere to help students develop both academically and emotionally
- Collaborate closely with classroom staff, school administrators, and families
- Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all learners
