Multiple classroom assignments are available, including:
- Life skills, autism support, or behavior intervention classrooms
- Inclusion models within the Teaching and Learning Class (TLC)
- A medically fragile unit, collaborating with paraprofessionals and nursing staff
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
- Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) teaching certificate is mandatory
- Experience in special education settings preferred, particularly in life skills, autism, behavior, or medically fragile classrooms
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional approach to meet a diverse range of student needs
- Strong commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements
- Provide direct instruction, behavioral intervention, and academic support to elementary-aged students (specific caseloads assigned based on preference and fit)
- Collaborate actively with paraprofessionals, nursing staff, homebound teachers, and administrative teams
- Maintain compliance with all documentation and state-mandated guidelines, including timely completion of credentialing requirements such as TEA fingerprinting
