Special Education Teacher - Irving, Texas
Step into a highly rewarding role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher at an elementary campus near Irving, TX! This is a full-time, on-site contract position running from August 11, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with a 37.5-hour workweek. You’ll have your choice of unique caseloads, working in self-contained classrooms dedicated to life skills, autism, behavior intervention, or a medically fragile unit—whichever best aligns with your expertise and preferences.
You’ll be the backbone of your classroom, facilitating small group instruction while ensuring each student participates in school-wide activities like lunch, art, and PE. Collaborative support will include paraprofessionals and, for medically fragile units, nursing and homebound teaching assistance.
Qualifications:
- Accredited bachelor’s degree (required)
- Valid Texas Special Education certificate (EC–12)
- Willingness to complete or provide fingerprint clearance through TEA (if not recently completed at another Texas public school district)
- Experience working in life skills, autism, behavior, or medically fragile classrooms preferred
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and implement IEPs within small group, self-contained settings
- Foster inclusion by collaborating with general education staff for lunch and extracurricular participation
- Partner with paraprofessionals, nurses, and homebound educators where appropriate
- Track student progress, monitor goal attainment, and maintain thorough, accurate records
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to support each child’s growth and well-being
