Make a meaningful impact in the upcoming 2026-2027 school year by guiding students toward growth and positive change. As a Special Education Teacher in this contract role, you'll be at the forefront of supporting students in grades 3–8 who present with significant behavioral needs, such as eloping, defiance, physical aggression, and refusal behaviors. Your primary mission will be to teach and reinforce productive replacement behaviors, fostering a supportive and structured learning environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education certification and Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience working with students exhibiting significant behavioral challenges
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement behavioral interventions
- Commitment to promoting positive behavior and inclusive practices
- Open to receiving training in CPI de-escalation techniques (provided; this setting does not use physical restraint)
Position Highlights:
- Serve a focused caseload with no more than 13 students per classroom
- Assignments available for grades 3–5 and 6–8
- Collaborate closely with two dedicated paraprofessionals in each classroom for additional support
- Engage in a school culture where proactive and preventative approaches are prioritized
- Receive comprehensive training and mentorship throughout the contract
