Special Education Teacher in La Fayette, GA
Step into an impactful role supporting young learners within a dedicated Special Education Pre-K program for the upcoming academic year. This full-time position runs from August 4, 2026, through May 21, 2027, and offers the opportunity to make a real difference alongside a collaborative and caring educational team.
Your primary focus will be on guiding and supporting children aged 3-5 with a range of unique needs. This role requires compassion, adaptability, and expertise in fostering growth for students who may be in the early stages of toilet training and require assistance with feeding. Many of the children are non-verbal or have limited verbal skills and may display behavioral challenges, making patience and proactive engagement essential.
Qualifications/Preferred Experience:
- Valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate with both Special and General Education Endorsements for Pre-K
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher or Paraprofessional in a school setting strongly preferred
- Ability to support children with varying developmental, behavioral, and communication needs
- Comfortable providing personal care and assistance as needed (such as diapering and feeding)
- Effective team collaborator and communicator
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and interventions to meet individualized education goals
- Assist with daily routines, including feeding and toilet training
- Implement a variety of communication methods for non-verbal or low-verbal students
- Track and document student progress and behaviors
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, support staff, and families
