Special Education Teacher - La Fayette, GA

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a special education teacher providing support in an inclusive classroom environment. This contract opportunity spans the school year, beginning with pre-planning on July 29th and extending through May 21st, 2027. You’ll serve a caseload of 8-10 elementary students—primarily 1st and 2nd graders, with some kindergarteners—in a setting dedicated to fostering academic and social growth.
Bring your expertise and compassion to a class where students present with diverse needs, including autism, significant developmental delays, speech and language challenges, self-regulation concerns, and learning disabilities. While toileting or diapering is not a regular responsibility, you will support a student with a toileting goal through supervision during changes.
Qualifications:
- Current and active GaPSC Teaching License with both P-12 SPED and Dyslexia endorsements
- Experience working with young children, particularly those with autism, developmental delays, and learning differences
- Strong collaborative skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in an inclusion setting
- Ability to adapt instruction and support to meet a variety of individualized needs
- Compassionate communication and classroom management skills
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement instruction and interventions tailored to each student’s IEP
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support inclusion
- Track student progress and maintain detailed documentation
- Promote a positive, engaging, and supportive environment for all learners
- Provide supervision for a student with a toileting goal as needed
